Finas hold 'Majlis Imbas Kembali Seniman Agung Tan Sri P. Ramlee' commemorate the legendary artist.
KUALA LUMPUR: A tribute to late Dato’ Dr. Tan Sri P.Ramlee held at Galeri Perfileman, Finas. The occasion was inaugurated by the Chairman of the Finas, Yg.Bhg Datuk Ab. Ghaffar A.Tambi, with Deputy Development Director, Mrs. Hajjah Fatimah Bt Haji Ahmad and Deputy Director of Operation, Tuan Haji Mohd Zulkifli Ab. Wahab, here at Galeri Perfileman, Finas recently on 4 July.
Jointly the event organised by Ministry of Information Communication and Culture, and National Film Development Corporation Malaysia (Finas).The occasion held to seek explores the secrets of success, experience, commitment and bitter sweet journey of art with actor
and actress who contributed a lot in development of film.
Meanwhile, the occasion been cherish with the special attendance of Tan Sri Jins Samsudin, Dato’ Aziz Sattar,Mariani,Norlia Ghanie, Aziz Singah, Hajah Wan Chik Daud, and veteran actor and actress. The ceremony also graced by performance from Musly Ramlee. Musly Ramlee sangs three songs that rarely played by late P.Ramlee himself which Ali baba Bujang Lapok, Main Mahjong and song from film Antara Dua Darjat.
The event was also joined by 10 students from Communication Media Club (CMC) under Faculty of Communication and Media, Universiti Selangor and Madam Norazian Bt Abdul Aziz have been invited into the glorious occasion.
The ceremony has been looks as medium of appreciation to the society about the services and the involvement of artists while giving exposure to the film industry to the society through their journey. This is also in conjunction of National Artists Day (Hari Seniman Kebangsaan) in which late Tan sri P. Ramlee who has been chosen as the icon in this year. As known, the late Tan Sri P.Ramlee was an excellent pioneer who has produced art works in high standard and has been remembered until now.
Teuku Zakaria bin Teuku Nyak Puteh was known as P.Ramlee born on March 22 1929 at maternal grandmother house on the festive day of hari Raya Aidilfitri. His father, Teuku Nyak Puteh, was a sailor from Aceh, who later married Che Mah Hussain.
He attended Kampung Jawa Malay School and Francis Light primary schools, as he grow up he went to the famous Penang secondary school until the Second World War broke out. During the Japanese Occupation years in Malaya, he continued his studies at the Japanese Navy Academy. When the war ended, he back on studies in Penang Free School. He was known as an athletic student during his time.
Among the activities that been organised by Finas was a talks with moderated by Mr. Hj Chuari Safe, invited three panel which is legendary veterans of Studio Jalan Ampas Datuk Aziz Sattar, Dato Mustapha Maarof and Mariani. Three panel was invited to talks about their own experiences, opinion on late P.Ramlee when they used to work together with the late P.Ramlee.
According to Datuk Aziz Satar, P. Ramlee is a hardworking person, very discipline on his works and his was good person among his friend. He also added that, P. Ramlee is really caring about people around him.
“P. Ramlee is very nice person and always cares about other, for example in all his film. All his film is about the society and I still remembered one sentences before he death “my art is not for money but it’s for society,” Datuk Aziz Satar said.
All the good deeds by P.Ramlee always been remembered till today. Datuk Aziz Satar who was once P.Ramlee sidekick always remembered each words P. Ramlee told him.”Walaupun aku mati tapi aku akan hidup seribu 1000 tahun lagi, jika kita ada diatas pimpinlah mereka yg dibawah bagi mengerjar sama-sama kejayaan, dan bantulah mereka yang memerlukan”.
According to Mariani, P. Ramlee is very supportive person and care about his job and family. If you ever watched the ‘Nasib Si Labu Labi’ you might thought that P. Ramlee is marrying manisah who was played by me before, but the fact is P.Ramlee was so in love with my little sister Saloma.
“Even though, P.Ramlee has become my brother-in-law, he still a protective and strict person in family and job become his first priority,” Mariani said.
In the ceremony, Tan Sri Jins Samsudin also gives a speech that late was the person who introduce Tan Sri Jins into the industry of film and give guidance and opinion. As a result, Tan Sri Jins succeed in becoming a famous actor around 60’s and 70’s.
Tan Sri Jins involvement in the arts began when he underwent an audition held by P.Ramlee where he was accepted only as extra actor. From the experience, he gradually gained the experiences, opinion and knowledge by P.Ramlee.
“P.Ramlee was the first person who give opportunity and trust in me to act on his film even and that time, I still in early ages,” Tan Sri Jins said.
According to Tan Sri Jins, P.Ramlee is very difficult to accept the offer to act from other directors, but this honour was given to Tan Sri Jins, for P. Ramlee acting in his film in “Bukan Salah Ibu Mengandung”
On the 27th of May 1973, P. Ramlee passed away at the age of 44 due to a heart attack and was buried in Jalan Ampang Muslim Cemetery, Kuala Lumpur .In 1986 (13 years after his death), in honour of his contributions to the Malaysian entertainment industry, the P. Ramlee Memorial or Pustaka Peringatan P. Ramlee was built in Setapak, Kuala Lumpur. In 1982, Jalan Parry, in the centre of Kuala Lumpur, was renamed Jalan P. Ramlee in his honour. In 1990, he was posthumously awarded the Malaysian honorific title Tan Sri, and later in 2009, the honorific title of 'Datuk Amar' by Sarawak State Government.
In addition, there also have screening a documentary about the journey of P.Ramlee. The exhibition in the galleries is shown divided into five segments such as bio data, film acting and film direction, performance, trophy, achievement and picture. The occasion ended at 5.00pm and a photo session with artists and fans.
